Our Core Beliefs

At Reidsville Christian, we believe faith is meant to be lived, not just listed. These beliefs shape who we are, how we follow Jesus, and how we care for one another. They are not a checklist you have to complete before you walk through our doors; they are the foundation we stand on as we invite people to Belong, Believe, and Become.
You don’t have to have everything figured out to be here. But we do want you to know what we believe - and why it matters.

God
We believe there is one God, eternally existing as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is the Creator of all things, Sustainer of all things, perfectly good, and completely loving. God is sovereign and infinite, meaning He has no limitations. While He can be intimately known, because of His infiniteness, He can never be fully known.
Jesus
We believe Jesus is the Son of God - fully God and fully human. He lived a perfect and sinless life, in order to be a holy and worthy sacrifice in our place. He was tempted as we are tempted, yet He did not fall into sin. He died on the cross for our sins, and bodily rose from the dead three days later. Through Him, we find forgiveness, new life, and the invitation to follow Him as Lord.
The Holy Spirit
We believe the Holy Spirit is God Himself - the third Person of the Trinity - fully divine and actively at work in the world today. He lives within every believer, guiding, comforting, convicting, and empowering us to live the life God has called us to live. He convicts the world of sin, gives assurance of salvation to followers of Jesus, and equips believers with spiritual gifts for the purpose of ministry. We are not meant to follow Jesus on our own; we are led and strengthened by His Spirit.
The Bible
We believe the Bible is God’s Word - fully inspired, inerrant, true, trustworthy, and authoritative. It tells the story of God’s redemption and serves as our foundation for what we believe and how we live.
Humanity
We believe every person is created in the image of God and deeply loved by Him. At the same time, we all fall short and are in need of grace. No one is beyond God’s reach, and no one is without need of His mercy.
Salvation
Salvation is a gift of God’s grace that can never be earned through good works or self-improvement. It is received through faith in Jesus Christ. Through Jesus, we are forgiven, made new, and invited into a life of ongoing transformation. We respond to this gift by placing our faith in Him, turning from our sin, and confessing Jesus as Lord. As an expression of that faith, and in obedience to the teaching of Scripture, every believer is called to be baptized.
Baptism
We believe we are saved by grace through faith, and baptism is the God-ordained response to that faith in Jesus. Following the pattern of Scripture and the example of Jesus, we practice baptism by immersion, reflecting the meaning of baptizo - “to plunge, dip, or immerse.” Baptism is more than a symbol; it is a step of obedience where we identify with Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection—our old self buried and raised to new life in Him.
The Church
We believe the church is the body of Christ - a community of people learning to follow Jesus together. Christ is the head, and we are set on the mission He gave us: to make disciples and share His love. The church is not just a place you attend; it’s a family where you belong, grow, and serve.
Communion
We believe in remembering Jesus through communion, which we share together weekly. It is a time to reflect on His sacrifice, give thanks for His grace, and center our hearts on the gospel. As we take the bread and the cup, we remember what He has done, celebrate what He is doing, and look forward to the day He will return.
Eternity
People are created for eternal existence. Jesus will return one day, and all will stand before Him in judgment. There will be both justice and reward. For those who are in Christ Jesus, there is no condemnation - they will spend eternity in the presence of God in the new Heaven and new Earth.
God’s desire is that no one be separated from Him, and through Jesus, He has made a way for all to receive forgiveness and new life. Those who reject Jesus will be separated from Him by their sin, experiencing eternal separation from God in a real place called Hell.

A Final Word
Again, we don’t expect you to have everything figured out - because we don’t have everything figured out either. We don’t expect perfection. We don’t expect you to believe everything before you walk in the door. We simply invite you to take a next step.
If you have questions about what we believe, we’d love to talk with you. If you’re ready to take a step - whether that’s faith, baptism, or getting connected - we’d love to walk with you. Because at the end of the day, this isn’t just about what we believe. It’s about who we’re becoming… together.
